About the project
Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve participates in various conservation networks, platforms, conservancies, and public and private entities as part of fulfilling our role in the Man and Biosphere Reserve function towards conservation of biodiversity and cultural health and diversity within the Cape Winelands area.
In addition to fostering these collaborative partnerships, the Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve also engages in capacity-building initiatives and knowledge exchange, facilitating workshops and sharing best practices among stakeholders. By nurturing these relationships and encouraging the adoption of innovative conservation strategies, the Reserve plays a pivotal role in enhancing the resilience of local communities and ecosystems, ensuring the long-term sustainability of both natural and cultural heritage in the Cape Winelands region.

Objective
The Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve serves as a key networking entity within the Cape Winelands conservation landscape, fulfilling an umbrella function that supports and connects a diverse range of conservation initiatives. Through active participation in quarterly meetings, and ongoing communications. Contributing to conservation priorities and shared learning across the region.
Ongoing communication with local conservancies and other conservation entities such as CapeNature, Landcare, etc etc further strengthens landscape-scale conservation efforts, supporting biodiversity protection, ecological connectivity, and sustainable land-use practices within the Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve.

Strengthening long-term impact
2023 The Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve project, Education on the Move (mobile classroom), contributed eco-educational and scientific hands-on activities, as part of the BioSCape NASA project. Over the course of five days, Globe School Science Club 170 youth from 10 schools, were invited for a series of lectures and hands-on educational activities. Learn more about BioSCape
